A bulldozer is equipped with a substantial metal plate (known as a blade) and is used to push large quantities of soil, sand, rubble, or other such material during construction or conversion work and typically equipped at the rear with a claw-like device (known as a ripper) to loosen densely compacted materials. Bulldozers can be found on a wide range of sites, mines and quarries, military bases, heavy industry factories, engineering projects and farms.
This course is the nationally recognized unit and provides the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to operate a dozer in a safe and competent manner in accordance with workplace requirements. This includes planning and preparation for work, the conduct of operational checks, the safe and effective operation of the machine for a range of tasks, the fitting, use and removal of attachments and operator maintenance activities, as well as safe parking and shutdown procedures.
